Making My First Piece

Over the holidays I started designing and making my first piece. Inspired by Cam'ron's classic outfit he brought out for the 2003 Fashion Week in New York. A full pink fur jacket with a pink satin lining and a pink fur headband to match.
The Process

The first step was going to Len's Mill Craft Store and comparing materials until I found the best match for the jacket Cam'ron sported. Once I had confirmed the fabrics I wanted I had 2 yards cutout of each along with white thread and a zipper.
Later I headed to Goodwill and selected a hoodie that fit me well and wasn't too complicated in design. I then brought it home and disassembled it using a seam ripper and used each panel as a template for each part of the hoodie I needed.

Once each panel was cut out in both the fur and satin, I laid the matching cutouts face to face and sewed around the edges leaving a small hole to allow it to be pulled inside out.
With each panel cut out, I was able to sew each panel along the edges and put the whole jacket together. After some needed adjustments were made, I sewed on the zipper and it was complete.
I had also quickly made a headband that fit my head perfectly to complete the Cam'ron inspired outfit.

Overall I am happy with the final product, I recognize the mistakes I made and where I could improve in the future. The sweater is comfortable, fits and I enjoy wearing it so I would call it a success.
